CROPS, CLIMATE, AND CULTURES (C3) LAB

At The New York Botanical Garden

The Plants, Cultures, Food, and Climate Lab is led by Dr. Alex McAlvay from the Institute of Economic Botany in the New York Botanical Garden. Many of our most pressing challenges such as sustainable resource management, climate-change-induced biodiversity loss, and food security are at the intersection of human culture, ecology, and evolution. Our lab is focused on understanding the relationships between human cultures and their environments with projects ranging from ecological studies of agricultural systems to ethnobotanical projects to support the continuity and revitalization of cultural traditions related to plants.
